2007 – 2012

The activities during these years were designed to improve community capacity to manage their land and resources:

  • Developed the Bali DWE concept (Ecological Tourism Village)
  • Managed actual and potential village resources: clean water distribution and micro-hydro development in Tenganan Pegringsingan, development of dry land agriculture in Nusa Ceningan – Lembongan, household waste management in Banjar Pengubengan Kauh, development of Taman Gumi Banten in Renon
  • Community outreach for legal certification of wood to forest farmers and craftsmen of APIK Buleleng, and forest farmers in Bangli and middle-small industries in Gianyar
  • Spatial village planning: Pelaga village in Badung, Banjar Kiadan Dukuh and Tenganan Pegringsingan village in Karangasem, and Lembongan village in Klungkung
  • Childrens education programs: Environment Introduction through Fun Sunday and ‘Melali ajak Pak Godogan’ programs
  • Publishing books and producing audiovisual materials

Results of programs:

  • The concept of Balinese spirit-based community resource management (Bali DWE)
  • Increased awareness of and use of local potential
  • Certification of forest farmers and woodcraft groups
  • Village spatial planning and management
