Before participants left for their respective destinations, the JED team provided recommendations and suggestions that should be considered when visiting tourist attractions in Ubud.
Day Eight Activities – September 9, 2024
Toyo University students accompanied by Rio and Aga as guides, the activities started with an introduction to the Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village (Bale Agung architecture – how the government system in the Traditional Village is carried out by a husband and wife), to information on the layout of houses in Tenganan. The activities then continued to the forest honey tasting and ate weaving place. The students spent quite a long time there because they were amazed by the honey and also really enjoyed the practice of weaving ate.
After the honey place, the students went to the weaving place to see how people weave gringsing. After that, the students went to the yarn spinning place. Several students tried to spin yarn from cotton, although it was difficult, they seemed enthusiastic about trying to spin. Some of the students who tried were Rintaro, Tsubasa, Hiyori, Sae and Yuta.
After the spinning activity, the students went to Mr. Sadra’s house for lunch and also discussion. The students were very interested in Celorot snacks because they had never tried snacks like that before. They really enjoyed the snacks.
Many students asked Mr. Sadra questions, but the one who was very active in asking questions was Rintaro. One of Rintaro’s interesting questions was about the changes in the Tenganan Traditional Village after tourism entered the village and its benefits for Mr. Sadra.
Mr. Sadra’s answer was, “not many changes have occurred in the Traditional Village because the character of the guests who come to the Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village are guests who want to learn about the village and culture of Tenganan”. The benefit that Mr. Sadra himself got was the opportunity to learn because there were many guests who came to Tenganan with their questions, so Mr. Sadra saw this as an opportunity to better understand his village and himself, and he felt very happy.
Stay tuned for the Closing Part.. Day Nine and Ten.
